Pie for Mikey

Why is it that bad things come in bunches? Most of the time blogging is about food and fun and friends and enjoying life, but then reality sticks in it's ugly head.

News travels fast and sometimes it is just a couple of words on twitter that set off the antenna that all is not right in the world. I saw a note that Shauna sent to Jennifer and I knew something had gone wrong in the world. Jennifer lost her young husband to a heart attack. She has two young girls. I lost my own dad in thes same way when I was thirteen. Your life changes.

I am now at home, no longer young. closing up my mom's house with my brother and sister.

Internet has changed how we can deal with death.

Awhile back I took a writing class and did a small piece Comfort me with Chocolate.

Jennifer asked that people make Peanut Butter Pie for Mikey.

Food speaks louder than words!

I adore this piece that Jennifers friends Diane and Todd did for Mikey.

Unfortunately, my mom's kitchen is out of use for the estate sale, so I can't cook.  No pie from my kitchen right now, but when I get home I will make one for my husband. May have to bring the peanut butter from USA to get it right. But that is what love is all about.

Enjoy your family and friends- cook and eat something together.. life is short

  1. Thanks for sharing Diva. I love the delivery. May be your next cook book is made up of short videos where you can buy a single recipe for 50 cents or a buck or something. Nothing longer than the time needed to read the recipe <3

Judy, loved the Chocolate piece... I also know how hard it is to part with your parent's home and dealing with the contents. My Mom is still with us but my sister and I have had to clean out her home as she is now in a nursing home. Hard to part with some of the memories all the same. So best wishes to you...

I sent you a note after your posting of your Mom's passing and the Limoncello, I did raise a glass of it in her memory...still jealous of anyone who has fresh lemons in their yard!! But I now have another batch on the go...

So please don't think that "there's no one out there"... We are here...

Best wishes to you and your family and thank you for a wonderful blog,

    Cathy C.

  5. I was so amazed to find my favorite dessert Peanut butter> I love experimenting peanut butter on dishes and I find it very useful on lamb chunks in peanut butter sauce.

  6. A sweet post, Judy, and a gentle reminder of how we should all strive to live in the moment, cherish the day, and love the ones we have. Life is so unpredictable. Thanks, and I hope you're settling back in to a nice groove at home.
