I envy you your figging! :-)
What a figging gorgeous photographic ensemble!
I am so enamored with figs! The color, shape and taste - everything. A week or two ago, I stumbled across some photos I had taken in the Quercy a few years back - everything took me back to that wonderful fall visit.Lovely photos, Judy.
Great post. I thought you might be interested in a video we created about how to make & can sauce from fresh tomatoes! http://modernitalian.org/2012/08/how-to-make-can-base-tomato-sauce-from-fresh-tomatoes/
Looks like my Dad's garden! What are you doing with all your figs? Last year I made Figs in Syrup or Fichi Sciroppati that I saw on your blog. Any suggestions for this years crop?
@lucia- seriously- francesca's fig recipe is m favorite- have you eaten the figs with gorgonzola? i made some jam yesterday-- but really not as fabulous as the figs!
We will be in Italy for the first time next month. Are figs in season now?
yes, they are just coming into season. in italy it is traditional to serve figs and salami, prosciutto and melon and pecorino cheese with pears!!!
We have been enjoying fresh Mission Figs with fresh sliced peaches, drizzled with a little honey (brought back from Italy, no less!) with a bit of brie cheese and olive oil on top...ahh! Not as fresh as THOSE! LOL! Great pictures!
wow - wish I had some nice, ripe, fresh figs here. SIGH
