About Me

Welcome to my blog where I share a little of my Tuscan life with you. I adore shopping the markets and being inspired to cook with local seasonal food. Meeting the people that grow the food we eat and learning from them the age old traditions from families is what I share in my classes and market tours.

I teach cooking and offer culinary walking tours, one day market to table classes and organize week-long culinary programs.

I began my career as a pastry chef in San Francisco and when I moved to Florence started from scratch in learning a whole new way to cook and eat! I began teaching cooking classes in 1988. From 1988 to 1998 I taught cooking for the students at Syracuse University here in Florence. In 1997, I started my website Divina Cucina  with a dining guide to Florence and Chianti and also recipes. In 2008, I closed the Florence space and moved full-time out to the tiny house I bought in the hills outside of Certaldo.

Certaldo is half-way between Florence and Siena on the opposite side of the highway from "Chianti".
It is still part of Chianti, but totally different views.

Beginning in March 2011, my classes will be held in Colle Val D'Elsa.

I have a thing for hilltowns, my classes are in the lower part of the village

I will be doing daily small hands-on classes again and the large market day in Colle is Friday.
Stop by my website for more information on the programs I offer.

I am now doing more week-long programs in Colle Val D'Elsa and in Sicily, my new love. I adore the cultural mix down in Sicily: Spanish, Arab, Greek and more!

Through these pages you can also bring some if the Italian way of life into your kitchen. Often I travel out of Tuscany and share the market treats I find. Join me on my tasty travels.
